#ChooseOT with RCOT
We recently marked OT week with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). This year, RCOT have been asking people to share their experiences as OTs, and to provide reflections on choosing occupational therapy as a career.
The RCOT website has a range of posts from both new and established OTs from across the country, from those who have posted their experiences online using the #ChooseOT hashtag. The posts provide a snapshot into all aspects of being an OT, and show why we love to do what we do.
Being an OT means providing vital care for some of the most vulnerable people in our community. For me, this gives me the opportunity to help empower people to reclaim their independence, which makes a huge improvement to their quality of life. Not only this, it allows families to reclaim their identities, taking as much of the stress and anxiety caused by a life changing injury away as I can.
These are both huge reasons why I love being an OT and would urge any young person interested in providing care in their community to investigate the profession further.
